Brands Foundation Delegation all set to Attend the Fifty First Meetings of Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO

A four member delegation of Brands Foundation proceeded to Geneva to attend the Fifty First meetings of Assemblies of the member states of "World Intellectual Property Organization; a specialized agency of United Nations as Accredited Permanent Observer of WIPO in Pakistan. In the general assembly of more than 185 member states; Chief Executives and heads of more than three hundred national and international NGO's accredited by WIPO would also participate. It was stated by Chairman Brands Foundation Mr. Emran Ahmed Riyaz and Chief Executive Shaikh Rashid Alam in a joint press conference. They further informed that Apart from them two directors Syed Asim Zafar and Mohammed Shakil Khan are also the member of this delegation.

While stating about the annual assemblies of WIPO, CEO Brands Foundation Shaikh Rashid Alam said that it is for the first time in the history of Pakistan that any private sector organization has been honored with "Accredited Permanent Observer" status at the international forum of WIPO; The specialized agency of United Nations. Such annual assemblies are of extra-ordinary importance and strategic in nature as in such assemblies high level official delegations of all member states, head of national IP institutions and permanent observers actively participate to shape the future of IP policies for the future world. This year annual assemblies will be chaired by Secretary General of UN Mr. Ban Ki Mon.

In this year assemblies encompassing duration of ten days annual performance and activities of various departments of WIPO are reviewed and presented before the delegations of member states in the relevant sessions. Thereafter on the basis of majority acceptance, budgets, finance and future projects are formally approved. This year theme of fifty first annual assemblies of WIPO is "The Game Changer". In these assemblies IP institutions of member states will present their reports on the subject of Intellectual property awareness, its implementation and IP laws promulgation in their countries. They will further report the overall environment on the development in public and private sector will reference to IP laws.
